Илья: На следующей неделе в Штатах открывается ледовое шоу Тома Коллинза Champions On Ice в котором заявлена и Слуцкая. Tiana: Итак, первое шоу состоится уже завтра в Филадельфии. Фигуристы уже приехали туда и репетируют совместные номера. Попробую подоставать новости с американских сайтов и форумов, но они будут на английском. Как тут у народа в английским, переводить надо? Первые заметки о подготовке шоу вот отсюда 3 апреля It's the first day of rehearsals for "Champions on Ice" at Germain Arena, and Michelle Kwan's skates are missing in action. In fact, all of her luggage didn't make it to Fort Myers. While a tour manager dashes off to Southwest Florida International Airport to track it down, the star-studded cast is running through a group number set to Prince's "Let's Go Crazy." ... Who's on the ice? Torino medalists Evgeny Plushenko, Tanith Belbin and Ben Agosto, Irina Slutskaya and Tatiana Totminana and Maxim Marinin; Johnny Weir, Evan Lysacek, Victor Petrenko and more. Surya Bonaly of France comes out of a costume fitting awash in a rainbow of sequins and mugs to the skaters, who break out in laughter. The music stops and skaters scatter around the rink, performing little tricks. Slutskaya checks her PDA. Weir practices a layback scratch spin. Gwendal Peizerat of France stretches a leg on the side of the rink. Skaters aren't doing major tricks yet, just running through patterns on the ice. Before rehearsal started this morning, I met a few of the skaters in the costume area on the arena concourse. This was their first chance to see what they would be wearing the show. Johnny Weir came up to check out the "bible," a ringed binder filled with all the costume designs. I asked Evgeny Plushenko if he was going to rip off his costume, as he did in an exhibition where he dressed up like Chippendales dancer and performed a stripteasing routine. "Not this time," he said. Today, he's wearing a camouflage baseball cap, blue track pants and two sweatshirts to stay warm in the chilly arena. Weir wears a red CCCP track jacket, a reference to the old Soviet Union. The costume designer says all the skaters get along on the tour. No prima donna stuff. Hard to believe, huh? These young people go from cutthroat competition to sharing a tour bus for months on end. "You'd think there would be back-biting but there isn't," designer Pete Menefee said. "These kids are really helpful to each other. Most of them are years beyond their age emotionally." The skaters are going through some of their solo routines -- and goofing of a bit. A Barbie-blond wig that apparently belongs to Tanith Belbin is making the rounds. Johnny Weir pulls it on and skates onto the ice. Then Evgeni Plushenko tries it on under his camouflage cap. Then the strapping Russian Maxim Marinin. A little comic relief to break up the repetition. On the sidelines, skaters bob their heads to the music and send messages when they aren't needed on the ice. Blackberries aren't the only digital devices on the ice. Director Sarah Kawahara controls music cues with a pink iPod. Totmyanina and Marinin are running through their solo to "The Music of the Night." No jumps or throws for now. Even so, their graceful style shines through. A shuttle waits to take the skaters back to their hotel for the night. They usually are fed chicken or other meat, pasta, salads -- a lot of protein, according to Mark Collins, who handles merchandizing and catering for Champions on Ice. Sushi also is popular. "No fried foods. No burgers. No hot dogs," he said. After performances, the female skaters clamor for steamed green vegetables, he said, or plain chicken breasts. His brother, Marty Collins -- this is a family-run show -- makes another important decision: who bunks with whom at the hotel. As road manager, he also is responsible for travel and security arrangements for all the skaters -- a job that only occasionally calls for a little baby-sitting. "Sometimes if they're not on the bus when it's time to go, we have to call around and say ‘Have you seen them?' " he said. One time, Elvis Stojko got left behind when Champions on Ice departed for another city. "We call it oil staining," Marty Collins said. "When the bus leaves you see that oil stain on the pavement."
Tiana: 4 апреля Day Two of our exclusive behind-the-scenes look at Champions on Ice as the show prepares a new program that Southwest Florida will see before anyone else in the country. The brand-new production debuts Friday at Germain Arena before embarking on a nationwide tour. I'm sitting rinkside as the skaters work on the final number. The snippets of music I've heard are Scott Joplin's "The Entertainer." The program's theme spans the history of American music. Tanith Belbin is wearing the long, ruffly dress the women will skate in. They have parasols to contend with, too. Not very skater friendly, right? ... Some of the Champions on Ice skaters headed out Monday night to watch the NCAA championship on TV at Pelican Larry's Raw Bar & Grill in Naples. (My PR connection told me they went to watch "the UCLA game.") Others dined on sushi at Charlie Chiang's Restaurant and Lounge in Naples. Tatiana Totminana and Irina Slutskaya found their way to a beach, I am told. They're not skating yet, but I'll try to find out where they went and how they liked our beach. Skaters are taking a short break... tried to snag Tanith Belbin for a quick chat, but she said she only had five minutes to take a breather. ... The media made Johnny Weir out to be a bad boy at the Turino Olympics, where the 21-year-skater finished in fifth place after going into the free program in second. (After the memorable swan routine.) They said he missed a bus so he skated poorly. Not so, Johnny tells me. "Everything I said was turned against me," he said. "They took things out of context. I was crucified by the media. I didn't skate that well. All of a sudden I was turned into a failure, a flop." What about the fact he stormed from the rink before his final scores were announced after the long program? "I knew I skated bad, and the scores would be bad," he said. "I didn't want to cry on national television." Fifth place isn't bad for his first Olympics, Weir added. His plan for the next four years before the Winter Olympics? "I want to win everything," he said. "I want to have a dynasty." Taking part in his third Champions on Ice tour, Weir said it's not unsual for skaters to butt heads a bit at the beginning. They want to do things their own way. They're not used to skating with others. The competitive spirit spills over from the skating season. "Everyone wants to have fun here," he said. "But we're also competitive. If you're going to be a competitor, you can't get past that. Even in a show I want to skate 10 times better than Evan and Stephane and Evgeny." Still, it's more fun. "It's the best of the best," he said. "It's like being in the exhibition at the Olympics." BTW: I caught up with Tatiana and reports of a beach-going excursion yesterday were premature. 5 апреля “Irina (Slutskaya) and I were joking about how we’re the old ladies,” Kwan said of her friend and sometime rival. Neither has achieved the dream of Olympic gold. Kwan doesn’t let it bother her. “You dream of having the gold, but there are so many more important things in life,” she said. “You have to enjoy the journey there instead of just getting to the destination.”

Angelfish: а... народ, я перевела 3 апреля,кому там нада... звиняйте, если ошибки есть...)) и текст немного в сокращении, но,надеюсь,кому-то поможет))) 3 апреля Сегодня первый день репетиции COI в Germain Arena, а коньков Мишель Кван все еще нет. Да и вообще, весь ее багаж так и не добрался до Fort Myers. Пока менеджер связывается с Международным аэропортом во Флориде чтобы его найти, звезды ФК репетируют их общий номер "Let's Go Crazy." Кто же на льду? Туринские медалисты Evgeny Plushenko, Tanith Belbin and Ben Agosto, Irina Slutskaya and Tatiana Totminana and Maxim Marinin; Johnny Weir, Evan Lysacek, Victor Petrenko и другие. Бонали выходит в разноцветном костюме и строит гримасу катающимся, которые отвечают смехом. Музыка заканчивается и фигуристы рассеиваются по катку, исполняя разные трюки. Слуцкая проверят(исполнеят?) PDA (простите, мож я много че упустила, но pda расшифровать не смогла).(...) Фигуристы еще не исполняют свои главные трюки, а просто смотрят на общую обстановку на льду. Перед утренней репетицией я встретил нескольких фигуристов в раздевалке. Там они впервые могли увидеть, в каких костюмах будут выступать.(...) Яспрашиваю Плюшенко, будет ли он сбрасывать костюм, как в тот раз. «Не сейчас», отвечает тот. (идет описание костюмов Плюща и Вейра) (далее рассказывает про костюмы вообще) Белый парик, вероятно,принадлежащий Tanith Belbin, идет по рукам. Сначало его надевает Джонни Вейр и выезжает на лед. Затем Плющ пытается надеть его под кепку, в которой он выступает. После него – Маринин. Небольшая разрядка перед репетицией=) (...) Тотьманина и Маринин репетируют их «The Music of the Night». Теперь уже без выбросов и прыжков. Но даже не смотря на это они сохряняют свой красивый, изящный стиль танца. Небольшой челнок( сорри,более подходящего по смыслу значения слова shuttle не знаю) ждет фигуриств,ч тобы отвезти их вечеров в отель.Там обычно их ждет ужин – цыпленок или другое мясо, паста, салат – пища,где много белка, согласно Марку Коллинсу, который отвечает за поставку питания для COI. Также очень популярны суши. Нету ни хот-догов, ни жареной пищи. Брат Марка Коллинса, Марти, также занимается ответственным заданием: ему решать, кто с кем будет жить в отеле. Так же он отвечает за безопастность тура. Иногда его работа напоминает работу няни: Иногда, когда уже автобусу надо отправляться, а кого-то из фигуристов не хватает, нам приходится их искать и спрашивать всех вокруг «А вы их не видели?» - говорит Марти. Вон однажды так забыли Elvis Stojko – автобус уехал в другой город без него.

Илья: Angelfish Браво, браво так держать. PDA - personal digital assistant, инными словами портативный компъютер типа Palm. Shuttle - в данном контексте просто автобус, а вообще любое транспортное средство которое регулярно циркулирует между двумя или более объектами.
Tiana: А у меня сокращение PDA связано с RAID-матрицей (Parallel Disk Array) .. вот я сижу и думаю "А нафига Ире raid-массив?"

IrinaRules: Перевела. Казнить нельзя помиловать. 4 Апреля 2-й день нашего экслюзивного репортажа с Тура чемпионов. Шоу готовит новую программу, которую Юго-восточная Флорида увидит в пятницу раньше вcей oстальной страны. Я сижу у кромки льда и смотрю как фигуристы работают над финальным номером под музыку Scott Joplin "The Entertainer". Тема программы - история американской музыки. Tanith Blbin одета в длинное платье с кружевами, в котором будут кататься женщины. Зонтики тоже будут, что не очень удобно для фигуристов. Некоторые фигуристы вечером пошли смотреть баскетбол, другие ужинают (sushi). Мне сказали, что Татьяна Тотьмянина и Ирина Слуцкая пошли на пляж. Они ещё не катаются, но я узнаю, где они были и как понравился наш пляж. Фигуристы немного отдыхают . Хотелось поговорить с Tanith, но у неё толко 5 мин. отдыха. Пресса представила Jonny Weir в плохом свете на Олимпиаде,где он был в итоге 5-м, но 2-м после короткой (программа "лебедь"). Говорили, что он плохо откатал т.к. пропустил автобус. Но Jonny сказал, что это не так: "Они вырвали слова из контекста. Пресса раздавила меня. Я плохо катался. Сказали, что провалился". А как же, когда он покинул каток, не дождавшись оценок за произволку? "Я знал, что плохо откатал и будут плохие оценки. Я не хотел плакать по ТВ." "5-е место - это неплохо для первой Олимпиады. В следующие 4 года я хочу выиграть всё, иметь династию." Weir сказал,что это его 3-й тур и иногда в начале фигуристы спорят с друг другом. Они хотят делать по-своему и не привыкли кататься вместе. Ещё свежи в памяти соревнования сезона. Каждый хочет получить удовольствие, но мы же и соперники тоже. Я даже на шоу хочу кататься в 10 раз лучше, чем Evan, Stephane и Еvgeny. Это шоу лучшее из лучших, как показательные на Олимпиаде." p.s. Татьяна и Ирина не ходили на пляж.

Angelfish: =)) итак, для полного комплекта доперевела еще несколько строк с 5 апреля: 5 апреля. "Ирина и я смеялись, как у нас все вышло" - говрит Кван о своей подруге, а иногда и сопернице. Ни у одной из девушек не сбылась мечта об олимпийском золоте. Но Кван это совсем не волнует. "Ты мечтаешь получить золото, но ведь в жизни так много гораздо более важных вещей", - говорит она. -" Ведь когда ты путешествуешь, важно насладиться самим путешествием, а не добраться до конечного пункта как можно скорее."
